How to Find Your Ring Size at Home

A ring should feel like it was always meant to be there: secure, comfortable and easy to forget you are wearing. Here is how to find your size in a few minutes, with things you already have at home.

The right fit makes all the difference. Too tight, and a ring is pushed to the back of the jewellery box. Too loose, and it slips and spins. Fortunately, finding your size takes only a few minutes.

Method one: measure a ring you already own

This is the most accurate way at home.

  1. Choose a ring that fits the finger you plan to wear your new ring on.
  2. Place it on a flat surface and measure the inside diameter, from one inner edge to the other, in millimetres.
  3. Find that number in the chart below.

Method two: string or paper

  1. Cut a thin strip of paper, or use a piece of non-stretchy string.
  2. Wrap it around the base of your finger, snug but not tight.
  3. Mark where the end meets the strip, then lay it flat and measure the length in millimetres. This is your circumference.
  4. Make sure the ring would still slide over your knuckle, then find the number in the chart.

Tips for a perfect fit

  • Measure at the end of the day. Fingers are slightly larger in the evening and when you are warm.
  • Measure more than once. Take two or three readings and use the average.
  • Between two sizes? Choose the larger one, especially for wide or statement rings.
  • Mind the knuckle. If your knuckle is wider than the base of your finger, choose a size that slips over it comfortably.
  • Dominant hand. The fingers of your writing hand are often a little larger.

How our rings fit

Most DIMIRA rings have a gently adjustable open band that fits US sizes 4 to 9. Choose your size when you order, and we will pre-set the band to it before your ring ships. At home you can fine-tune it slightly: open or close the band in small steps, without forcing or bending it repeatedly.

Need a size outside this range, or a fixed band? We can make one to order, usually in 7 to 14 business days. Simply choose "Other size or fixed band" when you order, or contact us.

Buying a ring as a gift?

Borrow a ring she wears often, just for a moment, and measure it with method one. Or trace its inside edge on paper. If that is not possible, an adjustable ring is the safest choice: she can fine-tune it to fit.

The right ring, from the very first wear.
